What exactly do you want OHO? If you want that on the pliers, look at Gerbers, if you want it on the knife, maybe a LM wave? Merit Badges. A knife-carrying guide for the international traveller.
Some not by much. Lynn LeFey. I wasn't happy with the Powerlock, but I'm very picky about scissors. I've done work as an electrician's assistant, doing lots of cable runs of and in a day, and I know that it can really start killing my hands. The compound leverage of the pliers cuts the effort about in half.
They should be the same as the paladin in this regard. I'm not sure if all you're cutting is copper wire that you really need replaceable cutter heads. Or maybe the Powerduo? Grant Lamontagne. You actually broke a SOG plier head? If you broke that though I doubt you'll find anything else that will stand up to whatever the heck it is that you are doing with them! Full Member Posts: I didnt use a lot of force, i remeber i twisted it in some way i never did before, with few force. It just popped off. The steel was very grainy inside. It was more then strong enough by design, i think it was a steel defect. Anyways, Im not cutting thick cables, just some customer grade coax or utp and thats it.
I use other tools for the bigger cables. For the pliers its just for lightly tightening coax f connectors and the screwdrivers is just for screwing open things in unexpected places without having to go back to my car or toolbag just for a screwdriver. Thats all i really use it for really i dont need anything else. Thats why i started looking around and saw the skeletool from leatherman.
It has just what i need and nothing more. If i buy something that has too many tools anyway then ill go for the victorinox spirit coz that sems the best of the best. But i dont like too many tools! Member Posts: No Life Club Posts: 2, The Skeletool is nice, but the screwdrivers haven't got much reach to them. I can't open up a lot of consumer units or other enclosures with them, you might be able to get in to a choccie block but they definitely don't reach in to Weidmuller DIN rail terminal blocks.
The Spirit can do all of those things. Where the Spirit looses out IMO is the wire cutters. Even the the Rebar and Wave wire cutters struggle with anything like 3G1.
If you want to cut fat things regularly I don't think Leatherman or Victorinox do anything that will cope. Hard wire they're fine, my Spirit will happily munch through stainless MIG wire that will dent cheaper side cutters and my Rave I'd happily try to cut through anything I could fit between the jaws!
