Neil Ablewhite I have also been having this issue, done everything suggested up until the diagnostics, even AVG's own website doesn't work without disabling AVG, yet weirdly, if I disable AVG, visit a page that isn't working and then reactivate it, I can still revisit any page that I visited while AVG was off as many times as I want with no issue.

However and please note that these comments are aimed at AVG bosses and not anyone in tech support :- About 20 years ago I binned Norton and moved to AVG because of all the pop-ups and other crap that Norton kept throwing at me.
I have also installed AVG on at least another dozen computers for friends and relatives who come to me for help because I understand just a little more than they do. But no more! Since AVG was taken over by Avast a few years ago it has gone steadily downhill and I am sick and tired of all the pop-ups and attempts to extort money out of me for all the extra little add-ons that should already be part of the Ultimate package. I am also appalled at the prices AVG try to charge.
So this was the final straw for me. When the current AVG licenses expire I will be taking my business elsewhere and the other computers I look after will be following shortly behind me.
I realise I am probably wasting my time writing this, but it makes me feel a little better! I shouldn't have to waste so much of my time because AVG sent me a corrupted update. If more time was spent looking after the existing products instead of trying to milk more money out of people, maybe this wouldn't happen so often.
