News Make An Appointment. Why Choose The Wright Center? We offer a pair of accredited, comprehensive and community-focused family medicine residency programs. Our National Family Medicine Residency offers four training locations across the nation. In response to the shortage of psychiatrists in Northeast Pennsylvania and across the country, The Wright Center welcomed our first class of Psychiatry Residents in July This ACGME—accredited residency is progressive in its integration of behavioral health services within primary care environments and promotion of preventive screenings, timely interventions and a team-based approach to care — especially for patients who may not initially seek help on their own.

Residents receive hands-on training in regional public health-based settings, including specialty practices, behavioral health clinics, hospitals and safety-net health centers where they partner with primary care and addiction medicine teams. Cardiovascular disease fellows train in community-based settings where they are immersed in a variety of organizational cultures, electronic medical record systems and varying team dynamics.

Over the course of their three years in the fellowship, fellows train one-on-one with globally and nationally recognized, board-certified cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons. The goals of the Gastroenterology fellowship are to enhance the care of patients in Northeast Pennsylvania facing gastrointestinal disorders, as well as to strengthen the local workforce dedicated to this specialty.

Fellows gain experience in both inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology and hepatology experience, including mastery of procedural skills. Gastroenterology fellows are immersed in the community through active engagement in The Wright Center for Community Health practices, providing treatment to patients with hepatitis C.

Our one-year Geriatric fellowship emphasizes quality of care and deep understanding of Socioeconomic Determinants of Health to develop competent, compassionate geriatricians.
